IDM12
(Europe Road Trip Feb 12 - part 2)
Beging by going back to the start of last summer:
Groggily waking in the back of Otters car, from the excitant from the front I knew we were there! I didn’t think it possible to wake and go strait into such a state of excitement ... or maybe I was still giddy from all the Koperberg drank on-transit! (who was the know this adventure was to end waking in a hotel room with Moses Gates!)
Within ten minutes of waking, Otter, Yas, DS, and two new friends who were on would tours, Piz and &&& and I were all underground, enjoying the underbelly of Antwerp, and not the pre-metro! We were on a private viewing of the Antwerpen Ruin, the vast, rather impressive sewer system there.

Offering tunnels big enough to driver a bus down, glossy red blicks and more junctions than we could handle, the underground labrynth was a photographic wet dream! Having found out that the lovely Curly had enjoyed it here too, and had even left us with a little box of gifts hidden under a pipe down there (thank you), we knew others must come and share our wet sewage filled dream.
After getting a little lost, we all surfaced in the middle of a building site, got out, and wandered round in out waders for a few hours untill we located the cars. At which point it became more like a beach holiday, relaxing, swimming, drinking, eating sleeping, getting horrifically sunburnt ... exactly like a beach holiday.
After a night spent by a lake, and one at a motorside garage, we left the continent feeling satisfied and content in the knowledge we would soon return, next time with more people, more drinks but hopefully less sunburn.
ANTWERP ROUND TWO
Having spent two weeks in Europe (France, Germany, Austria, Italy and Spain) with my boss, (Stuart Roy Clarke for A Promised Land and our book, More Than Two Halves), amd work time was over, it's now playtime!
Sitting in FristClass, free superspped WIFI, unlimider, drinks, savoury and sweet food. What a way to begin the journey, even though I was stationary. Once open, the Crocodile resurant was perfect, and the WIFI prevented me from gorging myself silly as I sat and waiting for five hours for my charriot to arrive in the form of Larey, Ell and &&&&. We drove to Antwerp, found a safe place to park and laid our heads to rest, it'd be a long day tomorrow.
Seeing WellWasp, having missed his birthday for the first time in my entire life, literally, I greeted him and all the others as they sat on the road side, not as happy as they aught to be, sadly many cars had been toed that night. But, with so many people now united after such a long time from all over the world, we hit a pub in the City cetre, took over it completely and soon the spirits were high in every sence of the word!
After everyone got their expensive suits on and ate some cheep food, we were ready to go!
