Be Something!

8/1/2012

We all want to be special, be born into a magical life, like Anastasia, a secret princess, like Harry Potter, to be scooped out of reality and into some different world where we are important, that's why we read the books, watch the films, to be part of it.
In reality, there is only one way to become something, and that is to make it happen ourselves. That's just what Jemma Lowe has done, growing up in a small town, in a small country, but driven to not become a small part of history. She's worked hard, pushed herself to her limits, and is currently in London representing the United Kingdom, going for gold ... tonight!
It's was amazing meeting and working with you.

Sand Boats

Just to clarify, this wasn't to be some romantic cruise in the Med, stuck on the boat for up to two days, EVERYTHING would happen on that boat, the biggest concern, of course, being bodily functions. Popping an imodium, we left the shawline of the murky Nijer.

Sleep-over With The Boss

The joining of the photographic forces of Stuart Roy Clarke and myself.
Usually if your boss was to ask you to stay over, it'd be a concern, but when you're about to set off on a two week couch surfing trip round Europe, it only seems natural to begin by surfing their couch! This evening began with planning and maps as one might predict, but ended on top of a fell!

On The Edge

Something old from a place I miss to much ....

Refusing to navigate with torches, we slowly meandered through unknown paths by moonlight, taking unknown guessed shortcuts until a few hours later, we eventually reached the natural arch, or bridge ... and we all know how fond I am of bridges!
Setting up camp under the arch, on a tall cliff edge, we slowly drifted off to the sound of the traditional Malian music in the Friday night festivities below us in the Town.

The only regret was the coffee before going live, there's hyper and fidgety, then there's what John Foster had to put up with for the full hour.

The Devil Inside

In Mali it is believed that everyone has a little devil inside them, and in those with disabilities, the devil is bigger and showing on the outside. Due to this belief it can be seen as shameful to be related to someone with a disability, or to produce a 'bigger devil', whilst in Mali I was fortunate enough to work with people that didn't believe this.

Check this Wu-Tang-fan, how could anyone say he has a bigger devil than most?!

Arriving in a dress, thinking some publicity highlighting my feminine side would be great, and weather permitting, some footage of me climbing too (not in the dress), little did I know the ITV crew would brave the rigging themselves, join me atop this fine vessel and interview me on the fighting-top!
